Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 May 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By using APS Check (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Service is operated by Three Lines Techno, a sole proprietorship based in South Africa.

2. About APS Check

APS Check is a free online tool that calculates a learner's Admission Point Score (APS) and helps them discover qualifying courses at South African universities, universities of technology, comprehensive universities, and TVET colleges.

The Service is provided as a guide only. We are not affiliated with any university, university of technology, comprehensive university, or TVET college, and we are not authorised to make admission decisions on their behalf.

3. Eligibility

You may use APS Check if you are at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you must have your parent or legal guardian's permission to create an account or save personal information. By ticking the parental-consent checkbox at signup, you confirm you have such permission.

Parents and guardians who wish to revoke consent or delete a minor's account may contact us at info@threelinestechno.co.za.

4. Your account

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information when signing up.
  • Keeping your password confidential and not sharing your account.
  • All activities that take place through your account.

If you suspect unauthorised use of your account, contact us immediately.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose.
  • Attempt to access another user's account, data, or APS results.
  • Scrape, copy, or redistribute course or institution data on a commercial scale without our permission.
  • Submit false, misleading, or harmful suggestions, abuse, or spam through any feedback channel.
  • Use automated bots, scripts, or load-generation tools that may disrupt the Service for others.
  • Probe, scan, or test the security of the Service for vulnerabilities unless you have our written permission.

6. Accuracy of information

We do our best to keep course requirements, APS thresholds, application open and close dates, and institution details accurate. However:

  • Course data is sourced from each institution's public admissions material, which may change without notice.
  • We display the standard 7-point APS calculation excluding Life Orientation. Some institutions (notably UCT and Wits) use slightly different formulas — these are not currently calculated by us.
  • Specific programmes (e.g. Medicine, Veterinary Science, Pharmacy, Law) may have stricter requirements than the public minimum APS, close earlier, or use additional admission tests like the National Benchmark Test (NBT).
  • Application open and close dates change yearly and may differ for specific faculties or programmes.

Always verify course requirements, application deadlines, and entry criteria directly with the institution before applying. We are not responsible for outcomes of applications based on information obtained from APS Check.

7. Disclaimers

APS Check is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against attack, or that defects will be corrected.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, in no event will Three Lines Techno, the operators of APS Check, or any of our service providers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of opportunity, tuition, application fees, or admission outcomes, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to R0, given that the Service is provided to you free of charge.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through your dashboard or by contacting us.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, particularly the "Acceptable use" clause.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. If we make material changes that affect registered users, we will notify you by email.

Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the new terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from your use of the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of South African courts.
